Wednesday was our first Cavalier and no companion will ever take the most special place in our hearts. Her personality inspired our kennel name Allegria, which is Italian for merriment, cheerfulness. I initially saw her as a 3 month old puppy with Linda Stebbins, her breeder, who showed our Golden Retrievers for us. I proceeded to pester Linda for a year and a half and finally succeeded, getting her at 18 months old when I was out on the East Coast for shows. She was Lewis' surprise Birthday present. Wednesday was an early AKC Champion and shown at the Westminster Kennel Club the first year Cavaliers were included. A consummate show dog, she continued to compete as a veteran and loved every show. She was very trainable and had two legs on her CD, also obtained as a veteran. She additionally trained with the Goldens in the field, but it was a bit of a struggle for her to bring in the mallards, which weighed as much as her. Wednesday was a joyful being till the last, when she succumbed to recurrent throat tumor. She is still missed.
